Deep Dives

When a headline raises more questions than it answers, we go long. Deep Dives are DAILY's slow lane: reported, argued, and built to still be true next quarter.

What a deep dive is here

A deep dive is a single question taken seriously. Not a recap, not a link roundup, but a piece of analysis that starts from primary sources and ends with a defensible view. If we cannot say something you did not already know, we do not publish.

Length serves the argument, never the word count. Some questions resolve in a tight fifteen hundred words; others need room to show their work. We let the subject decide.

The topics we chase

Business models get the most scrutiny, because unit economics eventually win every argument. We unpack how a company actually makes money, where the margin lives, and what breaks at scale.

We also examine moats and whether they are real, technical bets that could pay off or sink a roadmap, and post-mortems of companies that got the timing, the market, or the math wrong. Failure is often the most honest teacher on the desk.

Our editorial approach

We favor evidence over access. A flattering interview is worth less than a careful read of the numbers, so we triangulate: filings, product teardowns, hiring signals, and conversations with people close to the problem.

We show our reasoning and mark our uncertainty. Where we are speculating, we say so. A deep dive that hides its assumptions is just an opinion in a longer coat.

What you get from one

A mental model you can reuse. The best deep dives are less about a single company than the pattern it illustrates, so the framework outlives the news cycle.

That is the point of going long: to give you something durable in a feed built for the disposable.
